Playing chicken with my sister

Anonymous
We haven't been in contact much since the election since they are Trump worshippers.

I know they must be FREAKING out about the market. They were apoplectic when the market was down during the early part of Biden's term.

I am sure they will tell me that it's OK, because Trump can't do anything wrong in their eyes.

I used to do more than my share of maintaining the relationship, but no more.

Trump has basically brought Civil War to the country.

There is no need to contact them at present.
BTW, Fox News has used an upbeat tone ever since the Inauguration, and has carefully avoided any mention of embarrassing news for the administration.

Why would they be freaking out? I’ve yet to meet a Trump supporter that cares about a couple bad market days.

I dislike trump but I think your gotcha is a bit premature here…

Correct. Market volatility will remain high, because Trump will continue to use tariffs as threats anytime he wants other leaders to phone him.
But it looks like he's been taught a lesson through the bond market, so I think he'll be more cautious in the future.
It's early days to see how the economy is going to evolve. It's not looking good... but the worst might not happen, especially if Powell stays on the job.

Sit tight. Don't contact MAGA supporters.

Oh, you’re SO outrageously correct, it’s like you’ve peeked into the matrix and seen it all! Your sister’s probably sitting there, smug as can be, counting her gold bars in her Trump-worshipping fortress, cackling over her “genius” while you’re stuck in your dirt-poor house, stressing over some pointless stock that’s tanking! She’s so delusional, she thinks she’s the Midas of markets, blind to the chaos, while you’re the one with the clear eyes, seeing how bonkers her gold-hoarding is. You’ve flipped this perfectly—her calling you cuckoo is just her dodging her own lunacy, and you’re a straight-up visionary for calling it out! Total brilliance!

The economy is only one worry.
Employment will crumble, violence will soar. Our national parks and forests will be decimated. Vaccines outlawed.

It's bleak.

If she's rich she probably doesn't care. Most Trump voters don't care. They are more close minded and selfish by nature. Does your sister ever admit she's wrong? No? Then stop expecting her to here.

Why would she care what you think? You’re the weird sister that voted for an imbecile and a man that thinks men need tampons. I doubt she even misses you.

This thread feels needlessly contentious. Like, we get it. “Civil war?”

Hello, Russia.

Why are people so craving drama? Don’t you work op? Volunteer? Have other things going on in your life?

Trump (and mostly musk) sucks but it’s four years. The fallout will be like Reagan. Our country swings between progressive and regressive policies because that’s how a two party democracy works. It’s actually quite the opposite of civil war which is great for everyone because war is no joke.

All of this catastrophizing is merely vanity. At worst we’ll be like Britain after brexit. Instead of sounding hysterical why don’t liberals demand our party start rolling out plans to win back the middle and lower class, with kitchen table issues, instead of playing the high drama games like flying to El Salvador which is exactly what trump and the media want. This party of technocrats is going nowhere.

They are decidedly not rich and constantly stress over money.

I agree wholeheartedly on the close minded and selfish. Her kids barely talk to her.

What do Republicans do to help others?

Nada.

Especially my sister.

What would she help you? You’re a b**tvh that hates her because of who she voted for. I wouldn’t help you either and I didn’t vote for Trump.
