Type of Students at Dickinson College

My Nephew was an Associate professor there for a few years - U of Chicago PhD and now a tenured professor at an SEC school. Really loved it and the faculty: He was impressed with the students and now many years later his own son is applying there.

I think there are a range of students from more preppy business types to more artsy social justice types. It seems like a balanced mix, which is nice. My child is a pretty liberal arts and humanities student who also enjoys languages, performing arts, and music. The study abroad options were very appealing. Seems like a very solid place to get a well-rounded education.

We know a few kids there. I think this is on target. The girls, in particular, seem to thrive with a mix of music, sports, leadership, social stuff. They've studied abroad. I think this is a very nice school with great opportunities for kids who seek them out.

Visited last June - loved the campus, and had a great tour guide. Focused on Environmental Science, and loved the campus sustainability efforts and farm. Overall really liked it, applied and got admitted with a large merit scholarship.

Students seem very normal, strong alumni network, and lots of opportunities at the school for those who seek them. Three kids from our school are going with sports commits. Not top of the class, but kind and hard working.

Did not accept the offer because of better academic options.
