DC has been talking to coaches there, was just wondering about the type of students that generally attend. Preppy, sporty, liberal, into social justice, whatever. I know you can tour, etc, but that doesn't always give you a good feel for the general student population, especially if you are talking to coaches and the teams.

| I hope it isn't too woke. |
Definitely. We certainly don't want a campus full of inclusive and empathetic people. May I recommend Grove City College or Liberty University to you and your loved ones? |
Trump, Vance, and Musk won. The anti-woke mandate encompassed a lot more than Liberty and Grove City. |

Go to the UNIGO website. They publish student answers to questions like, “What kind of kid fits in well here?” Or “How would you describe a stereotypical Dickinson student?”
My kid liked the campus. She was going to major in Biology. Their study abroad and disability services offices are excellent. Our only concern was some suggestion that the community might be cliquey. |

bucknell rejects go to F&M
F&M rejects go to Dickinson Dickinson rejects go to Gettysburg |
Maybe, maybe not, but in terms of outcomes: Bucknell > Gettysburg > F&M > Dickinson |
+1 - Maybe do a virtual info session, which can be a great way to get a read on the vibe. Also, take a look at student newspaper to see what's covered...theirs is available online. |
A few years ago, the student newspaper ran an opinion piece saying white males should shut up and stay silent in class. |
|
Np. I visited with ds. We liked it. I’d say more preppy sporty, middle of the road with some liberal types (every school has them).
What team? My dc is interested in playing a sport there as well. |
Dear lord, who cares? |
| More liberal than many of the other small PA schools but not a super-woke school on the overall scale. |
Maybe a white male who doesn’t want to risk drawing opprobrium from his classmates just for opening his mouth in class. |
Stop trolling the boards. It was one opinion piece, assuming this is even true (how you would know in the first place is so nuts) a few years ago. A blip. I know students there, and they are not overly woke at all (and I know woke from my other dcs school). Dickinson is middle of the road, and there are tons of student athletes. |
| We really liked the campus when we visited and it’s currently at the top of my junior’s list! I think there are a range of students from more preppy business types to more artsy social justice types. It seems like a balanced mix, which is nice. My child is a pretty liberal arts and humanities student who also enjoys languages, performing arts, and music. The study abroad options were very appealing. Seems like a very solid place to get a well-rounded education. |
