Take him to an allergist for testing. My son had red cheeks and ears for a long time, and it turned out he had allergies.

What's an allergist going to do, say he doesn't have "allergies"? No money in that!

OP, this is actually important: is he having recurrent headaches? Driving an old car? It can be chronic carbon monoxide exposure.
