| Hi, I'm getting more concerned about my 13 yo. Lately, within the past year or so, his cheeks seem to be always flushed, and it bothers him appearance-wise. We went to his derm, but he didn't give us a follow-up the last time we visited. Nothing has changed in his lifestyle apart from this. Is there reason for this? Getting worried. |
| Rosecea. |
| Hopefully not lupus |
| Drugs |
|
Is he fair skinned and freckles? Red hair or blonde?
Does it do it mostly when active, hot, or embarrassed? Some people just have rosy cheeks due to shallow capillaries. |
OP - He is fair skinned and he does flush, but even if he's in the house/school, his cheeks are rosier than the rest of his face. |
| Allergies. |
| Lasers can help |
99.9% nothing to worry about then. He might get teased some by boys, but girls will like it when he blushes at their flirtations. |
|
Niacin gives flush.
If he is taking this vitamin. |
| Would he happen to be Irish? Me and my kids go very red in any sort of heat, and my 14 yo always has reddish cheeks naturally. Some people just have more blood in their face, and have redder cheeks because of it. |
This. If it’s just red/rosy laser works best. It’s a common problem so any derm should be able to help. |
Are his ears red too? If so it's very likely allergies.' Take him to an allergist for testing. My son had red cheeks and ears for a long time, and it turned out he had allergies. |
| My son gets red ears with heat. He hates it but it is what it is. |
| Fifth disease. My son recently had this. |
