Mexico in August?

We spent a few days at an all-inclusive in Playa Del Carmen in August and the pool water was so warm that it was not at all refreshing. That plus the unswimmable beaches because of the sargassum made it somewhat unpleasant.

Yes it will be super hot. But you presumably be spending a lot of time at the pool/beach so it will be fine.

What resort was that?

Huh?? It's hot everywhere and you are better off by an ocean then not. I've been to Mexico & Caribbean in the summer and it can be great- less crowds & just as hot or even less then in DC.
OP- DCUM is dissing this because it's often noted that "only the poor/cheap people go in the summer"

That's because it's cheaper to go there than it is to Rehoboth or even Ocean City. A decent, ocean front condo in "trashy" OC is going to run you at least $6k for a week. Mexico can be very affordable if you don't mind the hurricane and small chance of locals getting shot up on the beach.

This. I’ve priced out local vs high-end Mexico AI w/ flights and Mexico often comes out better. And I can say my kids certainly enjoyed when we did a nice AI in August after doing Bethany numerous times.

I think the hottest I’ve ever been was Chichen Itza in July. And I grew up someplace where we regularly had temps over 110! But that same trip I was totally fine at Isla mujeres.

Los Cabos is (are?) great in August because it’s much lower humidity and much lower risk of hurricanes. I think ixtapa is similar (warmer)—-not sure about further down like Oaxaca area.
