Am I bonkers to go to Mexico on August? Punta Mita specifically. Will it be crazy hot?? |
Yes it’ll be super hot. We went last July and it was crazy hot but honestly fine by the water and in the pools. When it was too intense we rested in the room |
Why on earth would you want to go to Mexico when it's not cold here? |
Why would anyone go to Mexico period? |
Will say that Mexico City in August was amazing! Weather was pleasant and what a great cultural and eating destination
No need to freak out about foreign countries |
Don’t go they hate American now. |

Yes and hurricane season. Get Insurance. |
Mexico outside the all inclusive resort cities is great. What's it like being afraid of your own shadow? |
CDMX is always awesome though I thought August was the rainy season? The altitude and location closer to the equator keeps temperatures and weather consistently beautiful. |
We stayed at an all inclusive near Playa del Carmen last August and loved it enough that we’re going again this year. Sometimes we like to just take a week and do nothing but relax and it hits the spot. It was super hot last year but we spent basically the entire time in the water so it was lovely. |
This. What small lives some people live. |
Huh?? It's hot everywhere and you are better off by an ocean then not. I've been to Mexico & Caribbean in the summer and it can be great- less crowds & just as hot or even less then in DC. OP- DCUM is dissing this because it's often noted that "only the poor/cheap people go in the summer" |
That's because it's cheaper to go there than it is to Rehoboth or even Ocean City. A decent, ocean front condo in "trashy" OC is going to run you at least $6k for a week. Mexico can be very affordable if you don't mind the hurricane and small chance of locals getting shot up on the beach. |
I went last July and it was definitely hot, but that meant my toddler wanted to spend time in the water, which was great to get him used to swimming. One consideration though, is that the mosquitos were AWFUL. (They're obviously awful in DC at that time of year too though.) I usually go to MX in Feb or April and barely see any mosquitos, but it was very bothersome in July. |
