How is the Rockshire community area in Rockville?

Nice community, older homes. For old, not a lot of sqft. They hold on to price because of wootton. If high schools aren't what you are after, you can do much better with your $$ by looking elsewhere.

Seriously, not even close...

Not even close? I do have to concur that Manor Woods does not have many registered sex offenders, at least near where I grew up. I last checked a few years ago, and my 'hood (which no one on here would want to live in anyway) had a ton, Manor Woods had none.

But generally, sex offenders are clustered around low income housing (at least in my experience in looking at various places in MoCo). I wouldn't let some sex offenders in the zip code deter you from moving there, because as long as you stay away from sketchy apartments, they are unlikely to be your next door neighbors. (and yes, it is always possible, and yes, there are unregistered sex offenders, but I just wanted to comment on what was already mentioned in this thread)

Dollar for dollar, manor woods is on the wrong side of 355. I have seen it discussed on this very forum. That's not even mentioning high school rating. To choose a home based on a registered sex offender is silly, no matter where you move, a sex offender could always purchase after you and you are in the same boat.

The number of sex offenders showing up for 20850 is high because of the jail right by 28 and 270.

You mean Noyes? The juvenile detention center? If that was the case, then some of the registered sex offenders would have a Blackwell Rd. address, and I don't see any.

I believe the PP was referring to the adult jail at that location. You know, the one that's right next to a lovely new townhouse community, and not far from the new Harris Teeter.

The jail is on Seven Locks Road and I don't believe the sex offender lists includes people at this detention center. 20850 encompasses a pretty large area, to include E Gude which is not only on the East side of 270, but also the east side of 355. I'm sure the OP did her homework and is using this forum simply as another data point.

I originally thought so too, but the route 28 threw me off. THe jail on seven locks is temporary holding faculty for those who have just been arrested. If a defendant can't make bail, he's almost immediately sent up to the prison in Boyds. I wouldn't worry about that jail at all.

It threw me off as well since this is off Seven Locks. I agree that I would not worry about for the same reason as the PP. It's kind of funny, it is almost like there is a poster out there who really wants Rockshire to look bad. Anyway, I think the OP has a lot to consider for any neighborhood she ends up living in. From what I've read, Rockshire still sounds like a nice place to live.

I too am looking at a house in Rockshire. I went on the sex offender registry today and i found two sex offenders within a quarter mile of Fallsmead ES- one is across the street. I drove past both houses today. The one across teh street from teh school looks a mess; shades crooked in the windows, one shudder falling off the window, landscaping is not maintained. It looks like where you'd expect a sexual offender to live. The other looked like a nice home. I'm not sure what to think...
