How is the Rockshire community area in Rockville?

I live there and LOVE it! It has a small community feeling. When I moved in a few years ago each of my new neighbors stopped by with little welcome gifts (aka food) to welcome our family to the neighborhood. Since then, my children have made friends with all the kids on our block and we have all watched each others kids, or driven them to soccer practice or what not when we are in a pinch or even when we aren't in a pinch. My kids are elementary school age and I am very happy with Fallsmead ES. I hear the middle school and high school are good as well (Frost and Wootton). There is a local Giant Food that is within walking distance as well as a community pool. Of course, I also like the location, I feel that I am close to wherever I want to go as we are very close to 270.

| It is possible as a house in our neighborhood just went on the market last week! Although, it may already be off the market as they go very quickly around here. |

| Zip is 20850. Rockshire and Fallsmead, which also feeds into the same ES, are on the west side of 270 (20850 is also on the east side of 270, but that is a different neighborhood). |

| Just google "section 8" housing. Stick to 20853--Manor Woods, very quiet and safe |

This housing is in 20850 and in Rockville, but it is about 3.5 miles away from Rockshire, which is also Rockville, but a totally different area, to include a different school district. Rockshire/Fallsmead is on the "west" side of 270 not the east, which someone mentioned in a previous post. 20850 is a large area so I suppose it is easy for you to be a little confused. Anyway, just my 2 cents. I don't know anything about Manor Woods and I am sure it is a nice area as well. |

FWIW, I check registered sex offender lists pretty regularly and most in 20850 are in the homeless shelter on Gude Drive. 20850 is huge geographically. In any event, for every registered sex offender you can "locate" there are probably 100 more unregistered sex offenders living in your neighborhood -- they just haven't been caught yet. |

Hi, I am the PP who lives in Rockshire and loves it here. Your post concerned me so I went to the sex offender registry and while there were quite a few in Rockville, they were mostly on the other side of Rockville (the EAST side). NONE were anywhere near Rockshire (Thank God)! Anyway, before you disparage a neighborhood, maybe you should make sure you know what you are talking about. |
