Unpaid internships

Child had an internship at a think tank, he wasn't paid but did get a housing allowance - no college credit.

I did an unpaid internship but was able to talk to my adviser at college and create a nontraditional study credit. So no pay, but I did get course credit

Crazy. My kid got an internship at a startup and made a ton of money, as typically they are flush with money.

my kid got an internship at a startup, too. Not crazy money, but it was decent. But, it's tech. DC said when they were interviewing for an internship that the interviewer said, "Don't ever take an internship that doesn't pay you." But, again, tech.
