The fact that so many people still don't get this is why the administration has been able to kneecap the NIH, FDA, etc. with relatively little pushback from the public. Sigh. Here's hoping other countries fill the new vacuum, for the sake of everyone's health. |
Manufacturing of drugs is a low value-add. The real money that benefits a local economy with a multipler effect is the massive R&D spending by well educated people with PhDs and the capital gains pouring in to the IP owners/ shareholders. Manufacturing little pills based on R&D from Switzerland is not a gang busters business. |
Who says all that critical study funding is going away? There have been cuts, but many seem like wasteful spending with minimal utility for treatment of pressing diseases. |
Oh yeah? https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-says-us-will-soon-announce-tariffs-pharmaceutical-imports-2025-04-09/ |
yeah like cancer and parkinson's and alzheimer's and diabetes and all these minor ailments that barely affect anyone at all. just take some turmeric and you'll be fine. |
Do these MAGAs ever tire of being played for fools? |
Yeah. Who dies of cancer anymore anyway. That’s not pressing. |
Do you even know what’s been cut? What sources are you getting your information from? |
Yeah people are absolutely crashing down the doors to open factories in places with high political instability, where your business can be targeted by a wrathful President or his unelected billionaire bestie. That’s the business environment everyone is seeking. Did you notice this isn’t even in a real news source? |
Yes, I do. Do you? And by the way, there is a lot of wasted R&D (not to mention administrative overhead) in pursuit of treating major diseases. Seen it first hand. Are you saying there isn't a single penny that can be.cut? |
DP but you’re changing your story: are you saying pressing diseases like cancer, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s aren’t being cut (which they are) like you did above or now are you saying the way they’re being cut is fine because you’re sure it’s wasteful. Cutting a penny means negative savings by the way. Because you paid Elon Musks tech bro the top of the legal GS scale to find that penny. |
I don't think so...it's unbelievable to watch them defend him round the clock. |
Since you claim to have witnessed the waste in medical R&D first hand, where do you think these cuts should occur? And since you mention administration overhead, please be specific. |
Okay Mr. Doge you're right who needs cancer research Alzheimers research and many others ![]() ![]() |
Really? Until there's a global pandemic that shuts down supply chains and the US has severe shortages of critical meds. Or China shuts off all supplies of critical APIs during conflict with the US that makes America fall to its knees because there are no more antibiotics etc. that make it impossible to do any surgery. You have no idea what you're talking about. There is massive national security risk relying on extended supply chains from China to India to Europe to produce critical meds. |
