Our culture is much more about individual independence/liberty, while theirs has a larger community focus.

What's happening to our nation now is a threat to the nation as a whole, and we don't feel it yet individually. Regardless of how much certain people may shout that they are patriotic, they are not. We tend to support our selfish needs for independence rather than our community need to maintain a nation that actually fosters and upholds our liberties. We will learn, but after a lot of damage to personal liberties.

This is very true. I've said it before. Americans are much more "me me me". Other countries are much more community focused, hence the reason for basic universal healthcare.

I'm a PP who stated that Americans have taken our democracy for granted. They don't know what it's really like to live under a dictatorship. Many South Koreans do.

I mean we are a huge country. We simply can't do a lot of stuff without a lot of checks and balances. Trump does but gets yelled for it (rightly so) but as a rule of law and process, Americans just aren't given to doing anything quickly. If you go to Asia and watch customer service it's a totally different game than if us here in States.
