I’ve lost 54 pounds.

1. Got my hypothyroidism diagnosed and treated. Without this, none of the loss was possible. I dieted and exercised for a decade and kept packing on weight, very slowly, but still adding instead of losing.

2. Just did calorie deficit and exercise, like I had been doing the previous decade.

Sigh

Many overweight people and especially women, often skip this step.
Endocrinologist should always be the first step one takes, to weight that you cannot seem to shed no matter what.

Hormones are a big thing. Another example would be a woman who wants to get really muscular. A woman could eat tons of steak, lift weights for hours everyday, and still never get really muscular. But give that woman just a little testosterone injections and boom, huge muscles.

Lots of metabolic disorders prevent you from losing weight despite calories in/calories out.
