Do kids get notice if not accepted?

Friend’s son got Glenstone. It mentions the stipend, but not how much. Still, he’s excited.

No mention of stipend for DD, not Glenstone. I thought the stipends came from the county, not the host organization so that seems odd.

Any idea how kids are selected?

I think it’s first come first serve and then either random or slight interests. Ours was terrible and we declined.

Sorry the position was not a match for your child. With all the uncertainty in the job market, there may not be as many options to choose from. MCPS reaches out to various employers but they've got to accept to ensure various opportunities for students. It's just not happening this year.

It was a camp counselor job. Terrible hours, no flexibility and it was a transportation issue. Kids can get paid camp jobs. It wasn’t anything close to what was asked. It’s not an internship it’s a volunteer job. They can volunteer elsewhere with something more interesting and closer to

That's weird. Isn't there a different program through Moco rec where they can get SSL?

Very weird. No ssl hours offered but don’t need them. It was a half day and distance was a problem.

I get it. I think in the past places like NIH and Glenstone participated. Anyone's child get an NIH or Glenstone offer this year?

NIH or glenstone would be great. I don’t even care about the stipend. Better to get a regular job.

My kid applied on the first day the application process was open and hasn’t heard anything.

Our also was terrible. Declining. I think they try to maybe current skills and maybe location but it certainly didn’t match interest. Mine might have actually liked Glenstone depending on position

did anyone receive any health care type of patient setting type of offers?

Same here. Also has 504 plan so maybe makes for less attractive candidate

They sent an email saying they don’t have enough placements.

Last summer they placed 1/3 of applicants

I don’t know, but since people are declining placement offers, they’re still filling placements.

My son is an Engineering student and was hoping to get something but not camp counselor. We have not heard back and got app in early.
