No, because there is no Jitney that goes to Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts or Rhode Island. |
+1. Maybe check out Block Island, East Greenwich, and Wickford, too! |
NY is not New England. |
Newport for sure! |
Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket would be very expensive, but I actually think much easier for a short trip. You can fly to the islands direct from DC, NYC, Boston (where are you all coming from?) and then you are right there. Pretty much everywhere else in New England means flying and then traveling to the shore in a car/bus/expensive Uber ride.
You can also fly to providence and take the fast ferry to MV. Newport is also as easy to do from Providence. |
MV is the perfect choice from an air travel perspective (I’m seeing MV only adding about $100 vs. Boston), but if you’re not up for sharing hotel rooms, you may find yourselves facing huge room charges. |
Westerly (Watch Hill) would be my suggestion. |
I love duxbury. My cousins live there and say people vacation there. I like the Maine option. Fly to Boston or Portland. |
Duxbury native here: Kind of a weird suggestion I agree, but not really when you consider the 7 mile barrier beach and burgeoning restaurant scene (Island Creek outdoor situation is big and fun and on the water, Winsor House). None of that was there when I was growing up. The larger issue is that I don't think there is anywhere to stay in Duxbury. No airbnb, barely any hotel rooms. I suppose you could stay way way out on the beach in a rental, but you are pretty isolated.
I would pick MV or Nantucket, There are direct flights to both from DCA and there is a ton to do. Great restaurants, beaches, shopping, fun bars, etc. |
Westerly was my suggeston too |
