It’s because life got too easy and cushy in the US. You know longer need to be informed and hard working to have a minimum standard of living. And somehow it’s “cool” to be uninformed or misinformed.

I think it’s three-fold:

—people think the constitution will magically save us

—Americans are too trusting

—daily life will look the same, largely. It will be fine, until it’s not.
