| MLSNEXT is the new thing and is absorbing the talent out of ECNL. However only a matter of team before too many clubs get MLSNEXT badge then dilute talent. |
This dilution has unfortunately already happened…question is whether they will follow the same path as DA and eventually fold. |
| What about mlsnext2 vs ECNLRL? About equivalent as a second tier team at any of the larger clubs? |
Is this a question? MLSN2, all day, provides much better competition and exposure. |
That's a bold claim with zero evidence |
| Would say depends on the Area? |
|
If your child can make a MLS Next top team...say yes. Anyone who disputes that is an ECNL fanboy and doesn't live in reality.
If they can't or you don't have MLS Next in your area, go for ECNL or MLS Next 2. MLS Next 2 is "new" even though it kind of existed before without the name. However, now they are adding a lot of new teams to MLS Next 2 and it will probably be diluted. Do your research on what teams will be in both ECNL and MLS Next 2 in your area and pick the better league. If you can't make any of these three options, play for fun and convenience. It isn't more complicated than that. |
MLSN2 hasn’t even started. I think judgment on quality needs to be reserved until after there has been at least one full season under this new tier. |
| NAL ran the same league, and the competition was pretty good. With some additions, it will be the same. Just check the MLSN site. |
These are teams in MLSN2. I think the list do tell you the quality for next year. Some of these clubs are first teams. Mid-Atlantic Operated by National Academy League Alexandria SA Baltimore Armour Bethesda SC Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth Coppermine SC FC DELCO Keystone FC Loudoun Soccer Club McLean Youth Soccer PA Classics PA Classics Harrisburg PDA Hibernian Players Development Academy Real Futbol Academy Sporting Athletic Club Springfield SYC Virginia Revolution SC West Virginia Soccer |
It’s a shame coppermine is in this tier. From what I’ve seen of their u13-14 teams, they’re gonna wipe the floor with many of these teams. Hopefully they get promoted to MLSN proper. |
Great competition and opportunities to National showcases. Boys on MLSN tier 1&2 will be fine. ECNL is good as well, but the competition is not that good when compared to MLSN. RL is just not doing it anymore. |
| ECNL RL in mid Atlantic is going to be so poor. I do think even with some duds added to MLSN2 the league will be close to ECNL national. Only the top 3-4 ECNL teams would be "better" |

| Doesnt MLS Next limit the playing of other sports or is that just a rumor that i have heard many people say. If true it probably doesn't make a difference to a 15 year old who has decided on soccer only but could be a deciding factor for a rising u13 that still would like to play other sports for fun with his friends. |
