Withdrawing Club Acceptance

This…except you can simply state they have decided not to join. You forfeit the deposit. All of the rest of this lawyer and shenanigans is ridiculous. If they do make you get to that level, return here and post the clubs name.

Chill out. The club will gladly accept the deposit.

The real question is, why did you place the deposit when you knew you wanted the other club?

Don’t hate the player hate the game

My kid will tryout the top team from several clubs. If a club only offers a B team spot, then we will notify the coach we are still trying other clubs and see if he can hold the spot. If not, then we just move on.

Substitute “B team” with “A team” in the scenario. Two A team spots offered - but offered two weeks apart. You still notify the top team with offer 1 and they are cool with holding open the offer as you continue to openly shop around?

It all depends on how good is the child. Coaches/teams will wait for top players. The ones on the bench? Someone else's money is the same as yours. So, I guess it's worth asking the question to the first team to wait. If they say no, maybe you know your child won't play much?

For A team, I would prefer not to offend the coach, so just take the 1st offer. Of course, observing the tryout to evaluate your own kid's level in the top team is very important.

Of course you can switch. You likely wont miss out on your deposit either. Just ask.

And if they give you a hard time you probably dodged a bullet. Most reputable clubs will not give you hard time.

Exactly this. I’ve never paid any deposits, but when I did I got it back ipso facto when I CC my attorney on the email. Like literally the next morning the TD and DOC were both asking I received the refund back

Worst case scenario is that you call your credit card company or bank and tell them to block any charges from the club that you want to stop paying.

Notify the first club that you will not be joining in the fall. They will keep your deposit and you are free to sign with another club.

This is accurate information. Went through this exact same thing.

I highly doubt it will get to that level, unless the club has some kind issues with you specifically.
I’ve seen many many times in the past where parents have accepted and declined right after.
The season has not even started, they should not be making a big deal about it, if anything they should be glad they received additional revenue for and now they can get another deposit from another family
