We did the 'New DAWGS' day, but honestly, I think the admitted student tour would be just as good. For the tours and New Dawgs Day, keep checking for openings, since spots do open up ( This is how we got ours).

This is helpful. What about the visit blew you away?

We both loved the town and the campus—you really have to visit to understand what a cool town and atmosphere UGA has.

The business school was impressive. He actually prefers that it’s not a direct-admit program like UF, FSU, or Clemson. He feels this structure fosters stronger peer networks and engagement, provides more personalized attention and better resources, and that he could benefit from the added selectivity. I could give more specifics, but these are the main things that swayed him to choose UGA.

UF - He did not like the campus or the surrounding area. He also did not like that around 25% of classes are online if you are a business major.
FSU - Loved the campus, but the business school is not as good as UGA's.
Clemson - Not as good of a business school or overall. The town was in the middle of nowhere.
Penn State - Too large.
VT - The vibe just wasn't there for my son. He loved everything else about the school though.

UF – He didn’t like the campus or the surrounding area. A major drawback was learning that 25% of business classes are online. After talking with current students, he heard that many of their classes were online and that in-person classes tended to be large and impersonal. This was a huge negative and couldn’t be spun into a positive.

FSU – He liked the campus a lot, but felt UGA’s business school was significantly stronger, and that the overall focus and energy of UGA was a better fit.

Clemson – Too isolated, and he didn’t feel that the business school—or the university as a whole—was as strong academically or professionally.

Virginia Tech – He really liked the campus and the school overall, but wasn’t entirely sure about the vibe. Still, it made a great impression.

Penn State – Just felt too large.

Does orientation sign up happen after May 1?

UGA is either #2 or #3 right now for DC, but we may do a revisit. We secured housing the monday after EA release, but that's as far as we've gotten. Will waiting until late April to decide limit orientation options?

My DD is strongly considering it. She got in EA. She did housing right away and I told her to look into orientation after reading this thread. Looks like it opens on May 4th.

We had a great visit at the accepted students day a few weeks ago. The campus is very nice, but big! and we loved Athens. Didn't love getting to Athens so much. Atlanta traffic is no joke.

May 4th - Thank you! When you did the accepted students day, did your DD get to go to their accepted college and hear from professors and students? We've been to two of those and they were really helpful in understanding what it's like to be in the specific school. We loved the tour we took before applying, but don't know as much about the day-to-day as we do at schools where we've been to admitted days. Athens is great, but I do not look forward to getting there from ATL. It's definitely the lowest for transportation of the 3 schools, but the best for weather!
