You mean, he’s taking bribes? Because that’s the only thing that explains this to me.

I want to see the receipts. What did we buy with this capitulation????

Schumer is inept and the GOP is grateful every day for it. The Dems knew this was coming for several weeks. They were given ample time to develop a message and an effective counter-proposal. But they had neither.

Harry Reid never would have let this happen.

I had the same thought...

If they shut down there is no telling when they would reopen. While Elon and his crew steal everyone's data. Seriously.

So.we.just give them whatever they want? Insane. Now we don't even have the court cases to fight back, they gave him legal cover.

What cards to the Dems even have to play at this moment?

Looks like dems are folding and we are about to enter a full nazi mode. It took Hitler 56 days but Donny will best it.

This is the right decision, however much it sucks politically. We all know that Elon was going to use it as a pretext for mass firings. If Congress appropriates the money, agencies and fired workers have stronger cases to make against probationary firings and RIFs, whatever side promises Rs had to make to get their members on board. A shutdown also would have stopped the anti-DOGE momentum

It’s not about wanting a shutdown. It’s about NOT VOTING FOR BAD FUNDING BILLS. The bill is bad. Dems don’t have to vote for it.

+1 And the bill is meaningless because it’s authorizing spending that there executive branch will just ignore.

They are giving it up. Game over. They bowed down.

No they aren't. They're choosing the least bad of two terrible options.

NP. From who?

You can disagree with this decision (I do, because of the impact on DC), and also believe Schumer and the others voting for cloture are doing so because they they truly believe it is the best of two bad options.
