SYC Offers with deposit request

What I have heard re the management of SYC is that it is more pay as you go. The team parent collects the money to pay for whatever tournament, etc that you play in.

This was told to me directly by an SYC parent who has multiple kids (one on SYC and others at my kid's club). Their payment system seems to be different than other area clubs.

Can't speak to talent to 2010 but when I saw them play in the fall they looked pretty good to me.

Most clubs in the area operate like that. You have club fees that the club collects and then team fees are collected separately for tournaments. It's been like that at the various clubs we have been at.

OMG don't fall for it. They will ask for a non refundable deposit. They will feed you lies till you sign. Once signed, you are trapped.

SYC is the ONLY team I know where each team is responsible for team fees. Where the coach will tell you which tournament to play in and how many tournaments to play in. Team fee is collected and pays for the coach car rental, hotel and food.

It gets even messier when your child is a future player and is basically on the second team but can be called up to the first team.

Which club and team that do NOT pay for coach travel (airfare, car rental, hotel and food) for tournaments and showcases? Not being an a** but i don't know of one and would be interested in considering that club/team. Only one where all expenses are covered would be Academies (DC United Academy).

So much better when team and coach decide what is best for team vs club making unilateral decision for all age groups. What is good for U-13 is not relevant for u-17. Our club gives players and teams no say but yet we have to pay the fees and coach travel. It sucks

Bolded is the standard everywhere. If a club includes tournaments in fees, families are still responsible for coach's travel and accommodations. Who else would tell you what tournaments to play? You think that should be up to the parents? I'm confused by what you are saying or you must not have been at other places before.

Players getting called up from the second team to the first is also pretty common everywhere unless you carry a roster of 20+.

Not standard at the two clubs my son's been with. Club picks the tournaments, not the coach. Club pays for the coach's travel, not the parents. No extra fees per tournament except your player's and your travel.

From what our coach communicated to us, tournament selection is made between the club and coach.

The non-refundable deposit is normal; no total price listed is not normal.

Other clubs have sent out offers, did they post club fees for the upcoming year?

My D is in a different state and she was sent an offer. There was a 3 day time limit, but the full price was given. The strange part is that they do not know what league they are playing in yet (the club has applied for a big name league and waiting to hear). How do they expect someone to accept if they do not know where they are playing (and how do they know how much it will cost since these big leagues cost more)

You must be living under a rock or have a big stupid sticker on your face.

VDA, Arlington and Alexandria just to name a few of the local clubs that DOES NOT nickel and dime the parents, everything has already been factored into the league fee.
