LL sign-up nonsense

I feel like our LL does it the right way. They make you affirm that you meet the LL boundary requirements (i.e., do you live or go to school in boundary) when you register, but only require all the formal documentation if you want to play on All Stars.

Everyone kind of knows everyone, so it's not likely that some kid that is 13 tries to play 12u...none of their friends are around and clearly they weren't competitive enough to go for All Stars.

2 things can be true- some kids are bigger, yet there have been cases where some parents cheat and put their bigger older kids on a younger team. This is why birth certificates are required for tournaments.

Respectfully, duh. My point was that many people in this thread need to stop ASSUMING that bigger kids == older kids. Unless you have PROOF (e.g. you’ve seen the birth certificate) you’re actually just being a bullying AH.

For years, I would just upload blank pieces of paper for all the residency requirements during registration. I would add the birth certificate before registration started and when he became old enough for all-stars, I’d add the residency info during the season. Only in his last year of juniors, did anyone say anything. It started innocently enough as I was using my phone and didn’t have access to the info.

All the required paperwork and hoops really annoyed me once I realized how much sketchy residency stuff was going on in my kid’s league. Every year, the best 12s from the neighboring not as strong league would play that one season, knocking out kids from all-stars who’d been previous all-stars and been in the league since t-ball. It really irked me later when I was told they weren’t supposed to be eligible for all-stars, but the rule was usually ignored.

When your team of 11 yo are all face to butt level with the 1B who also has a mustache, there's a right to question.

If you’re just some random parent? Actually no, you don’t have a right to question. Just watch your own kid.

And I’ve known multiple boys who have had mustaches since they were in about fifth grade. They’re usually extremely self conscious about it, but by all means, keep up the bullying because you don’t understand puberty and distributions.

Annoying. Our league technically asks for it for regular season registration (there is a place to upload documents) but does not care or enforce this at all for regular season play- only all stars. And for all stars, it is for good reason- soooo much cheating is attempted. It is gross.

I understand the size jokes etc, but honestly some kids are just very very large or go through puberty early- especially with 11s and 12s. There was a boy in my oldest DS’s age group that was 6’0” 200lbs or so by age 12 (and he was younger than my tiny son by birthdate). Every league seems to have a couple of pretty big kids. It is just normal variation.

They should check and be more strict. All the DC license plates at Arlington LL games is annoying. Not sure how people are willing to teach their kids at such a young age that it’s ok to cheat.

It's so frustrating. I'm tempted to show up at the player evaluation without this documentation and tell them they already have it and if they push back just leave.

We usually just take their word for it unless their kid makes the all star team. If they make the all star team, it gets pretty picky. They want proof of current address in the form of a utility bill, a driver's license AND a letter from a state or federal government. They also want a birth certificate.

If the kids attend a private in Arlington, they can play for Arlington LL. So that may be why you see DC plates. I also know two different people who put off switching their car registration to VA as long as possible to avoid the personal property tax. Since they park in their garages, they got away with it.

Don’t take this out on the volunteers who showed up to manage the shitshow that is Saturday assessments. If you don’t like the way your league does something, pitch in to try and change it. Don’t make some big, dramatic stink just to try and prove your point.

This is how our league is as well.
