I haven’t been and don’t know if it’s a good time of year, but I was just looking at the Red River Gorge area in Kentucky and it looks like there is lots to do for teens who like outdoor adventure. |
I’d do NYC, Chicago or New Orleans. Lots of flights, lots of hotels and tons to do. A lot of resorts will already be booked up in the popular Caribbean location and/or will have their rates jacked sky high. And California feels far for a 4 day weekend—you’ll lose two full days flying really.
You could also see if any cruise lines have unsold rooms for a 4 day cruise — sometimes there are last minute deals but seems unlikely for spring break week. If you’re willing to take an interior cabin might be possible though. |
If teens are younger like 13-16 Rocking Horse Ranch is also fun.
All included but they have to like horses as the free horse back riding is the big draw. if a budget Frontier does a quick non=stop out of BWI to Cancun. Tight seats but a short flight. |
Okay, I found it on people. I don’t want to make light at all of the terrible situation facing Mexican people with respect to the cartels and violence (particularly against young women). But these people were not similarly situated to most American tourists. They were Mexicans doing driving vacations across Mexico to beaches in Oaxaca state. I don’t know where they were staying but it was probably not the big fancy resorts. Decades ago. I used to take vacations in Mexico where we would take second class buses and stay in small little b and b or small Mexican owned hotels. I don’t know if it was safe then but I definitely don’t think that’s safe now, sadly. But it’s very different than gojng to the marriot in Cancun and staying mostly on property, or the Sheraton in Cabo, or a major hotel chain in Mexico City. |
We are going to Chicago for 4 days over spring break with my 13 year old. |
Miami |
+1 We're going to Miami as well. Our teens really like Miami. Staying at the One Hotel. |
Try going back to Puerto Rico again. It’s much more than San Juan. You are missing 99 percent of the island if that’s all you think there is because you visited once. It’s got some much adventure and food and experiences. You can go back every single time and experience something new and different. |
St. Barts or Mill Reef Club. |
I plan last minute nice vacations for my family all the time. Planned and booked airfare and hotel for last year’s spring break getaway 3 days before we left. Tons of deals out there, if you’re flexible and know how to research travel. |
I’m thinking about booking something similar. Which property are you staying at? |
