| No, but I caught myself cheating with chat GPT at work. It's like having a racecar when you're used to a horse and buggy. |
Agree. It's totally cheating. It's like bringing a calculator to a test where only slide rules are allowed.... until the rules changed and now calculators are allowed. ...it will be normalized in the future. |

I saw my 13yo use it for an essay title (she left the tab open). She wrote the essay all herself, but asked for a title.
The title was so cheesy, that it was obvious. Then it made it seem like she used ai to write all of it. These kids needs to be taught ai literacy if they are going to use it. |
One of DCs teachers openly admitted that she uses ChatGPT to write college letters of rec. DC ended up not requesting one from her. Yes, my kid uses AI to review mistakes on tests and work through some math problems, because the teachers aren’t doing that in class. They prefer to give independent study time, which doesn’t help much if you need instruction on the material. |
This was a mistake! Kids that have old fashioned letters are at a disadvantage. Soon letters will be meaningless as everyone will have a perfect AI generated letter. I write all my letters with AI and even the AI detection services cannot tell these are AI.... I alter them, of course, because I don't use as many super outstanding game-changing superlatives as AI does. |

No,
In fact last year I suggested my Senior run his college essays through chatgpt to check for grammar and he was horrified—that’s cheating he said. He attended an independent Catholic HS that had to other writing in class- by hand. No chat allowed. Got an A on his very first college paper at at a T10 school —with “extremely strong. Excellent comments”. Catholic guilt is real. lol |
| AI is banned and not allowed on my Fed laptop. We would get fired if we tried to use it |
That's why everyone is using it on their personal devices if they work in such an environment. My organization allows it but crippled the capabilities, so everyone just uses the fully enabled one on personal devices, including my boss. |
What qualities do the AI-generated letters of rec have that old fashioned letters don't have? |
|
My HS senior uses it occasionally to help her get ideas and my college junior uses it too, I’m sure for way more than getting ideas.
I’m just glad it wasn’t around when they were younger and learning how to do their own research and develop their own thoughts. But the cat’s out of the bag now. |
| I recently caught my son using ChatGPT, but not for what you would think. I took his phone one night, to my surprise he was asking the AI "How do I finger a girl". Recently I have had an incident with him sneaking a girl into our house, I found this young lady in his closet although when we talked about it and I said she could come over freely, he said she wouldn't come over which makes me wonder... did he do it wrong? |
| Some older kids taught my son how to use AI Homework Helper at a sports tournament. It's a battle to break the habit, as he now thinks everyone uses it. He uses it in other ways that is fine, but just copying down a math solution and the work isn't doing him any good. |

I just got off of a call with my boss where he told me to use ChatGPT more and then shares his screen to show me how to maximize the output.
I was using it like a normal person, or so I thought, but he wants me to become a ninja or something at it. |
