Arlington ECNL ID’s

that's how it is at any club, if a girl stands out or is a "known" player they will fit in, when they make the team!

I’ve never seen anything like the 2012 ID sessions. It was almost cultish with the current Arlington players all wearing their red hoodies and playing as a unit against the “outsider” 2012s and even the 2013 crew. Very weird.

They are worried they won’t have a spot next season.

That is why they are 2012’s. Children after all. Childish / teenage behavior. Understandable at this age lol

Anyone know if 2013 offers started rolling out yet?

They red hoodie is official gear they have to wear at training or game and of course they have to play against the kids that trying out because they want to see who can beat who at which position.

Seem typical to me.

Who really cares..... At the end of the day, the clubs don't "really" care about your child. They want to win, your money, and then a distant third is your child's development. Coaches pick favorites all the time. Get over it. It's what you want to do with your child. Clubs will cut players just like they are a number and players will leave clubs for the next best thing. Parents need to open their eyes and do what's best for their child. Get in at Arlington or don't.

How are the coaching for 2013-2011? Do they have same style of play?

Girls. Was a lot of talent at the ID sessions but I doubt they drop players to pick a couple up. Any insight?

They will take big fast players and drop current players. No one is safe. Always have a back up plan.

Absolutely, the clubs are running a business. Your child is just another source of income, and terms like "development" and "player first" are just marketing tools. Come on, you can't be this naive.

People talk a lot about development. What are the focuses on U13-U15? Is there objective way to measure player’s development?

Big and fast players? Are we talking about American football here? I thought soccer IQ, first touch, passing ability, taking players on, 1v1 skills, dribbling, and shooting technique were more important.

Look at you, asking soccer questions in the soccer thread. Thank you! For U13/U15, development should be measured by a player's ability to make decisions under pressure, along with crafting their personal skills (at this stage, not everyone will be perfecting the Maradona or Cruyff moves), competitiveness, and physical training (don't expect your club to work on your balance and strength). So, I believe that U13-U15 development is largely up to the individual.

However, clubs can help by ensuring everyone gets proper playing time, playing in different positions, having open conversations with proper feedback, and reinforcement. Not just win at all cost. This is just my opinion, and I welcome a healthy conversation with you. What are your thoughts?

It feels subjective depending on the coach? Just curious if there’s a more objective way we can measure kid’s development objectively. I think currently we suppose to trust our coach for feedback but as we know coach has preferences and their objective is to win game first? How much of development part that player put in themselves outside of team and how much of team/ coaching that impact that.

No. It is not. As a parent that has been to almost every club ID over the years, it is not. Most club girls know the other girls from past club affiliations, ODP, etc. They welcome their acquaintances/friends and are friendly at the IDs. This is not the case at ARL. The girls are sh!ts and the parents that think this is normal are creating this environment. Understand this is a bad culture that everyone else sees and judges you for. The girls may not be to blame, they may not know better, this is a problem with the ARL parents or coaches who encourage it or don’t do anything about it. But do understand, everyone sees the kids are uncharacteristically awful and only you think it is normal. We judge you, your kids, and the coaches. Stop normalizing this mean girl environment. It is not normal, it is not usual at other clubs, it is just pathetic. Anyone that excuses this behavior as normal needs to get out of the ARL bubble or look in the mirror. It is not typical teen behavior seen at other clubs. Only you think that.
