My understanding is that Rubella is more of a risk for pregnant women than babies, but not sure. And measles is nothing to mess around with. Years ago my 8 year old had measles-like symptoms when she was too young to be vaccinated. It turns out it was two things (I think maybe hand foot and mouth and ear infection???) at the same time that caused symptoms like the rash and the fever. Even though there hadn’t been any reported cases in our state and we hadn’t traveled, they brought us in through a separate entrance, put us in a special room with air locker technology and the doc saw us in a lot of protective gear. The doctor on the phone and I both agreed measles was extremely unlikely - pretty much impossible - but they did all this anyway. I can’t imagine how panicked I’d have been if I thought it probably was measles. I had a check up the other day and heard a woman coming to an elderly man “they said anyone born prior to 1954 is assumed to have been exposed since it was pre vaccine, and assumed to have antibodies”. I’m guessing that was measles…it’s SO contagious.
