Passport renewal

We did our kids at a post office at the end of January and haven’t received them yet.

This. If you do it right now and expedite, you might get them done. I’m serious. If not, you may have to wait until 2029.

Again, please give some evidence for the claim that "most of the employees involved with renewals are fired", beyond "I heard". No doubt there is a lot of of upheaval in the federal government right now, but lets stick with documented information.

I think it's impossible to know what it will be like later this year.

If you renew when you get back, you'll have plenty of time. If everyone is adults, you can do it online. So I'd just do that and not wait until you have a trip scheduled and are in a possible time crunch.

I have to renew my kids' passports for a June trip. The earliest appointment I could get is tomorrow (made about a month ago). With layoffs and a risk of shutdown impacts, I plan to pay the expediting fee in the hope that they'll be processed before the shutdown. What else can I do? You can't renew kids passports online.

Renewing passports online today.

Need for a mid June trip. Its getting expired soon... wondering if I need to expediter or not.

Yep. Similar here. We did both in person (kids) and online (parents) and both arrived in less than a month without any expediting.

We did regular online renewals in January and took 10 days to get new passport. It was amazingly easy process. No need to mail in old passport and just take selfies and upload. The most efficient process ever!

Didn't do expedited. Went to PO the last week in January, had them within 3 weeks.

I would renew passports immediately.

No more renewals after. April

If you’re an adult. Or were 16 when you got your last one. If you’re not it’s an annoyingly painful process. My now 20 year old has to make an appointment because she was 15 when she got her last one.
