It certainly helps. My problem was stomach, I can't tolerate acidic stuff on empty stomach on daily basis. I don't see why lemon cannot provide this benefit if taken at a different time in the day

I don't know your specific situation, but many people who complain that they cannot handle acidic foods, often don't eat enough acidic foods.
Stomach acid is more acidic than anything you will ever eat. The discomfort they often feel is bacterial infections ("ulcers") or due to bile dump from ingesting food.
Check out gallbladder and liver health. Losing weight and probiotics are always good for both of those.
