Clubs drop on girls socccer AGAIN!

It’s almost laughable that NVA and McLean, who can’t really compete on the boys side at the ECNL level think it’s going to be much better in the MLS Next which is a much higher league. They didn’t think twice though, thinking they will get better recruiting. Already the top talent was going to these clubs.

Can't wait for the news to drop so things get more clear, because I don't see it going the way as referring them as two different entities any longer. It's going to be a single club, no alliances.

So it’s true? RL is GA1?

Tryouts still in May?

I doubt there is much better press for a club than sending boys to an MLS academy...and those boys potentially getting paid to play soccer one day. They are probably trying to balance the cash cow of girls soccer and the MLS pathway.

Model wise, yes, but GA1 are first team players vs second team. So the competition will be better, at least for the DMV teams, but most of the games should be relatively local.

No amount of marketing and selling will cover up the fact that we have eyes. New badges don’t all of a sudden make a whole new group of boys good.

I think a backlash is coming for the clubs and leagues, at least in this area. They tried to pull the same tricks too often and now even the younger families know it’s all a lie.

Yes, unless one of the existing ones gets demoted to tier 2 (TSJ I'm looking at you)

TSJ is already grasping at straws hoping they can get into another league, just check their boys 08 IG, 'actively positioning for ECNL/ECRL/MLSN/MLSN2'

TSJ is a dumpster fire that keeps on burning. Revolving door of coaches. Parents and club screaming matches is a normal meeting. The last of the FCV soccer quality is completely gone. And money is the least of it but I’m already 5k in the hole thanks to never ending “surprise” charges and it’s not even spring. Unfortunately the only constant is the psychopath TD who who destroyed what was once one of the top clubs in the country.

Gotta fund those football academy scholarships from somewhere!

GA is not that easy as you may think. RL won't cut it there

Looking at Loudouns RL teams in Soccer Rankings, if they can compete in GA right away - that is a real inditement of the quality of GA.

I'm sure some of those teams will get better before they go to GA. Girls will choose GA1 over ECNL-RL in a lot of cases. Also, it's not like every team that plays in ECNL is good, there are some real stinkers out there depending on the year.

GA is a good league. Girls playing there, will be just fine.

It does not really matter in girls soccer. Girls soccer is all about college. The relationships are established with college coaches through club and club coaches not leagues. So things alway change in travel girls soccer but nothing really changes. The true change is the transfer portal.
