| This is a stunt. Common Cause loved to pull this trick in the late 90s and early 2000s (I worked there) ... get more publicity and raise more money by getting controversial ads rejected. Everything old is new again. |
So what's the alternative...we print threads from DCUM and Reddit and pass it out on street corners? Purity tests are killing the "liberal" agenda. |
You are free to start your own newspaper. |
This is dumb. Please go look in the mirror and laugh at yourself. |
Are you suggesting that a private business should obey your whims? On what grounds? |
Thank you for expressing what I wanted to say. |
There are numerous alternatives to WaPo (and NYTimes because they suck even more). NPR AP Democracy Now ProPublica PRI Baltimore Banner Boston Globe |
Sure, they're alternatives (or supplements) to reading the Post and the Times. But they don't make the Post's and Times' existence superfluous if they quote from their reporting, which I believe they do. |
Actually Washington Post and NY Times quote the AP. All of the above have plenty of original content. If you're suggesting we should all read all the news sources that's fair but not practical for most people. If you're saying WaPo has to be the primary source of our news or everyone should subscribe, then I disagree. I feel for the journalists that work there. Journalism is a tough industry these days. That sucks. |
Propublica, if you want hard working investigative news with a left wing shrill spin on top. |
|
Washington Post doesn't need to exist. You can pay their journalists to work elsewhere.
Journalists need jobs, not media owners. |
How many of these aren't partially financially endangered/vulnerable? NPR sadly has low credibility with right-leaning people. Plus it's not very online. It's still radio. Also, it's a sad day when a capital city can't field a strong newspaper. Isn't that a cause worth your charity? |
Since the Post is now losing like $100 million a year, the best way to stick it to Bezos is to make sure it stays in business and costs him money. |
Bezos has a net worth of $240 billion. Losing $100 million a year is like you or me losing less than $100. He DGAF. He didn't buy WaPo for the money. |
Since when does WaPo have credibility among right-leaning people? If that even was a good reason to subscribe to them? Radio is great by the way but NPR has a ton of online content. |
