Tell me you’re not paying attention to a teaching shortage without telling me you’re not paying attention.

In fairness all the people around here who criticize Feds most likely send their kids to Joe’s Bible Barn.

The outreach and job fair is a great idea and may make a career transition easier for those at risk of losing their job. If I were a fed, or anyone at risk right now, I would at least go to the fair and see what they have to say.

So glad I didn’t have anything in my mouth as I read Joe’s Bible Barn. 😂

Thanks for posting this, OP. I'm over on the MoCo/PG line and I wish those organizations would do something like this. Trying to figure out how to potentially pivot into education is confusing.

Really smart decision by FCPS--especially with everything happening at DoEd.

Idk. I think it’s smart to reach out to Feds but I think the way they did it on social media was insensitive.

Families are really struggling and it had a seriously uncompassionate vibe.

The wording OP posted was just fine. Did they change it up on social media?

Seriously??? That’s what bothers you? The tone was perfectly fine, business like. One of the largest employers in the area maybe able to provide jobs with pensions and benefits and you are concerned about the tone, I don’t understand people like you. So, if they posted a tweet to say they really care for the struggling families, then in your mind that would have been better than providing jobs?

So what should it have looked like?

If MCPS does this I’d consider it. Have always thought about teaching govt/history.

Is the federal government going to stop giving money to schools?

Would you rather FCPS offered up thoughts and prayers?

OP here. I’m glad many of you found the post useful! I am so sorry these indiscriminate and reckless layoffs are happening to so many in our area. What I posted was from FCPS’s newsletter. I did see a social media post also that seemed a little tone deaf so I understand the PP who made that comment. I think the newsletter text was much better.

Good luck to you all.
