Are you important? By that I mean tied in with the Musk Administration and can disappear Federal funding to your jurisdiction? Or Musk’s people will deliver to organized crime on your demand the leash law violator’s confidential information delivered? Or better, the local authorities’ confidential information a la “The Chairman” on Walker, Texas Ranger?

Then yes, you can call your local police, explain the new reality, and the off-leash dog will be over.

If there is an ordinance or HOA rule in place, it is definitely within bounds to tell people that they are in violation. I am SO sick of the idea that we should all stay silent as criminals and anti-socials run roughshod over community norms. No.

The 975 ARMED CARJACKINGS in DC were a public safety issue, but DC refused to even chase the armed subjects.

On the rare occasion they apprehended an armed carjacking defendant, DC let them go and dropped adult criminal charges in the vast majority of cases.

If we can't enforce existing leash laws, then what's to stop me from harassing dog owners in my neighborhood who walk their dogs off leash.

If you can walk your dog off leash, which is a violation of the law, then I can follow you around yelling at you for doing it.

See what happens when your response to someone wanting to address a problematic behavior that actually impacts other people is "too bad, move"?

Society has to have rules and we all have to live by them. It's not a pick and choose situation.
