Why travel

I don't travel much but I don't think about the impact at all.

LOL so it’s not the travel per se but the fact that they do it with their kids?? The trolling gets worse.

Spend enough time on the political forum or watching other forums, there are unquestionably people out there who think like this and who aren't trolling. Just sayin'

I travel because I enjoy it. I'm going to Switzerland this summer for two weeks of hiking and walking in the Alps. Why not?

Why: The world is so vast, why would I stay in my tiny bubble? I want to see the world, see other cultures, eat foods I’ve never had before. Also the weather sucks where I am lol.

How often: really as often as possible. I get 6 wks vacation, so I try to utilize it as best I can, adding onto holidays and long weekends. I’d say we avg 3 trips a year. LY was 5, but one was a short trip to the local mountains.

Environmental impact: I’m generally a huge hippy. I grow my own veg, recycle, compost etc. but I know that everything I do makes almost no difference. The corps and private jets do far more polluting than I do. So I do feel a little bad, but not that much.

OP, do you think of the environmental impact of lowering your AC to 72 in the summer? Do you think about the tons of toilet paper, paper towels and napkins you use every year and how it affects the environment?

Do you think of the fact that the western world washes their cars, floors, clothes etc. with potable water? When most of the world doesn’t even have access to clean drinking water?

I can go on and on. If you worry about travel that much, I hope you also worry about all the other crazy things we do to destroy our environment.
