Why do you travel?
How often? Do you think about how air travel affects the environment? You know it does but you need to or want to? Or you don't think about the effects? |
I love adventure, seeing new places, exploring, trying new food and drink. My job is a bit of a slog and planning travel boosts my mood and helps me push through the dreariness of winter. It motivates me to stay in shape throughout the winter. Most of all, it’s fun and exiting and I thrive off of it.
1-3 times a year, though 2-3 of them are usually road trips. Sometimes we also cruise. No, and no. |
Mostly to see my parents and extended family overseas. Going by boat would take over a week each way, and not going would be sad and awful. |
We travel alot.
No I do not think about environmental issues. I love learning new things, new cultures. Troll |
I grew up in a very boring place and longed to sea the ocean and snorkel. So, that's where I go. |
+1 Smug, sanctimonious troll. |
Not OP but why so defensive? I love travel but yes I think about the impact of air travel and the local culture. Travel impacts the environment. That’s not smug, it’s a fact. I think quitting travel entirely is unrealistic but there are little things one can do…avoid Airbnbs in most places, avoid cruise ships. Certain areas should be left alone like Antarctica. Support local businesses. |
Why do you travel? - I travel for funerals or to take care of people during/after surgeries.
How often? I think in the last 20 years I've traveled half a dozen times. Do you think about how air travel affects the environment? You know it does but you need to or want to? Sure, but driving across the country isn't practical when I get only a certain number of days off, and don't own a car. Or you don't think about the effects? I can't worry about it. |
I love to travel because I live in a cold, snowy, mountainous place which is not my preferred climate, and I like to learn about and experience new cultures.
I recognize that the ability for me (and most people) to travel so frequently with such ease is truly a modern miracle. I know flying is destructive to the environment. But I still do it. When Brazil and India and China reign in the environmental destruction they produce through business, we’ll talk. |
I just love getting out of town, nice hotels, trying restaurants, experiencing things out of the ordinary of my everyday life. No, I honestly do not spend a lot of time considering how air travel impacts the environment. |
I don’t travel often, and yes I worry some about environmental impact. I’m not a fan of people flying endlessly on private jets. But an international trip every couple of yesrs is something I can live with. |
I hate travel, but my family and work lead me to do it a lot.
I do consider the environmental impact of, but at this point I think we are irredeemably screwed anyway given who is in the White House. |
I think about the environmental impacts. I try to decline one trip a year at least. And we are thoughtful in other ways, including; not driving, only having one child, living in a city, not buying a new construction home, not eating beef or (much) dairy, etc... |
Zero concern for environmental interests
Love to see the world! Life is short. Also, you’re a ridiculous troll. |
All these people who travel with their kids and yet don't give a single thought to the environmental toll of airplane travel are the ridiculous ones. Not to mention insanely selfish. |
