Stay strong, don't let them push you out so easily

Some feds are being dramatic but this isn't a real buyout. It's literally offering to pay your current salary and guaranteeing nothing except you avoid going to the office.

And they can't even legally guarantee that.

Sure, but they aren’t offered because one man decided he hated millions of people for no reason. Musk knows my colleagues processed the paperwork that lets him live here, right?

Musk hates them because he’s wedded to Trump, who hates them for not breaking the law on his behalf last time. Musk is infatuated with Trump because he’s mad his trans daughter disowned him for being a worthless POS, and Trump promised to hurt trans people. There’s nothing more to it. His troll behavior is because he’s an antisocial weirdo who treats everyone like that.

The other oligarchs like Trump because they think he’ll make them money (and because they’re hopped up on off-label testosterone). But for Musk it’s truly just about hurt feelings. He’s a pathetic loser dad who’s decided to destroy the world instead of apologizing to his daughter.

PS: Eff Elon Musk.

A. We don't believe you.
B. Eff you.

Haven’t read all the posts but stay strong. They know they can’t fire you and are getting desperate with this nonsense offer. Most of the country supports you and the work you do.

Thank you, PP.

Lovely thread over here:

This non "buyout" really seems to have backfired

My favorite, among many:

I swore an oath to the American people god---n it, I intend to fully uphold that until my dying breath. I serve the American people, the Veterans, and all those who came before me to perform the same duties as I; I serve the American ideal and the nation that I love, there's no way I'm backing down. Hell, I don't even care if I get furloughed during a shutdown, I have my CDL and I can always make ends meet.

F--- this administration and their draconian scare tactics, I'm not afraid of these losers because I serve for something higher than myself.

Dunno. Saw a few polls. Most Americans seem to approve of shrinking the Federal workforce.....

Life outside the Beltway is not, put it this way, focused on supporting the Federal workforce.

The oath I took to this Constitution is not dependent on whether you support me, and neither is the worth of the work I do as a fed, you chump change.

Drag me away from the patients I serve. I'll see you in court (you haven't stacked all of those, yet).

It should be, because 80 percent of feds are outside the DMV.

It paid admin leave for 8 months, a lot of private sector folks never get anything close to this.

It's not. It says you might be placed on admin leave. Or you might not. It says you can look for another job, but whether you can accept one is unclear.

Vilifying and cashiering civil servants is great retail politics (at least in the initial phase) and will now remain popular with about half of America no matter what. But 85% of federal civilian employees live and work outside the beltway, and countless communities in The Real America depend on those jobs and the services those people provide. The consequences of all of this are going to be real and they are not going to be easy to hide.
