OP - yeah I love to watch rowing also - especially the V8 boats in the Head of the Charles race. When they are in sync it is beautiful to watch them glide over the water.

Basketball, specifically the NBA, is struggling right now because the analytics have shown that just chucking up 3 pointers is the best way to score. So, the league has lost the ball movement skill that made basketball great to watch.

For pure beauty and athleticism of a human body I'd have to say the circus. Not even gymnastics, but beyond that. The circus, espec. the traditional eastern European/Georgian (although of course there are worldwide talents). It's spectacular.

OP - I would agree regarding Cirque du Soleil’s creative and gorgeous acrobatics and ambience - but strongly disagree regarding more traditional circuses such as Barnum & Bailey that have thankfully closed (and circuses with wild animals banned).

Have not seen the European Georgian circus

OP - it is so interesting to see what different people find beautiful in terms of sports. It shows how we are all so different.

It is good for us to think about what we love during these troubled times - so please keep your suggestions coming

Viva la beauté… and all the talent, hard work and discipline that it takes to create beautiful sports.

Agreed. The sheer skill and talent of being able to do what they do is amazing to watch. Of course, the fights are not so beautiful.

Diving.

Ice hockey. Not even close.

The speed is mind warping. The hand eye coordination is off the charts. TV doesn’t do it justice. The speed at which they make decisions and can thread needles with moves like saucer passes 20 feet away is just unreal.

Yep. Basketball has gotten boring.

The first sports that required no special equipment like an epee, a tennis racket or a ball - running and swimming.
