+1 This is entirely a privately run by volunteers and has no direct connection to the school system. It just has a target audience of middle and high school students. |
It depends what the $200 includes (I have no idea). I grew up in upstate NY in a solidly middle class area and our high school had a ski club. It was actually a very good value compared to skiing on your own on the weekends. I did not grow up in a family of skiiers but I signed up one year because a lot of my friends did it, lol. In our case the fee included trasportation, lift tickets, rental equipment, and a lesson each time (if you wanted it) for something like 8 weeks. If you couldn't go one week you could uusually find someone who was willing to buy your lift ticket and take your spot for the week. Didn't really have to buy anything because living in that area it was standard to have winter jackets and snow pants to begin with. Something tells me that whatever is offered here is not as good of a value, but there are places where ski club is a way to make skiing more accessible to kids, rather than simply a luxury activity. |
