Added up costs for 2024

Costs vary depending on location. She may have entered a CCRM. We are in an ultra high cost area and my grandmother’s AL was 9k+ depending on level and SNF was 11k

How do these Trump folks think they will be able to cover their parents' nursing home costs if Medicaid is gutted?

Prices will go up even higher if a lot of the employees get deported. Looks like a cluster!

You do need to be rich. My parent will spend $144k for assisted living this year.

I don't know if $139k per year is a nice facility or not...but I guess I look at this as I am paying an additional $50k per year for the memory care facility vs. my expenses on my own.

I don't know if people think that's excessive or not...but it seems reasonable to me.

NP. When it is even more difficult is when there is a spouse that is fine and still living in their home. Then the base expense isn't eliminated, but the memory care and potential aides are added.

Eldercare if needed is a huge problem for many people.

Yep. If we had to pay this much for two of them, it would be very hard.

For parent 1, we paid around $8k a month for memory care in 2018. By 2024, just assisted living was $10-11k. In 2025, it’ll be 11-12k. Memory care is more.

Yeah, my mom has great nursing home insurance and we are in a low cost of living area but it covers four years! I get nervous whenever I see one of those photos on facebook of an older woman blowing out the candles on a 100th birthday cake. Wondering if she has been in memory care for 16 years and how they are paying for it.

My mom is not yet in memory care, but she is at a high level of care at Sunrise AL. Rates went up in January so we are now paying about 10,500-11,000/month.
