When you aren’t trying to burn it all down, it takes money to actually govern and provide services we all need.

They could step up the funding for APS.

Providing affordable education, healthcare, ulility, housing, public transportation, etc. Everybody can benefit from the development of the country, not just the super rich. People forget about what we need a government for at all, good governance. If you keep electing a government backed by the wealthy, everyday people will never get a better life.

Then don’t speed.

I don't but the traffic signs in Arlington are confusing and there are far too many of them now. It is hard to navigate at times.

When in doubt, don't drive so fast. This isn't that hard to figure out.

This is true but very few places tax and spend well. Arlington is one of those places where it's super expensive but you can look around at the services, public spaces, buildings and infrastructure of 99% of the county and see where the money is being spent. I can see why it's expensive but for residents like PPs, it probably feels like money well spent.

Based on the title wording I'm sure this thread was made in response to the MD income tax increase thread as some sort of gotcha but realistically when you're driving through MD, it's hard to see why their taxes are so much higher. You don't see the return on investment.

I live in Arlington and … yep. Give me new playgrounds and sidewalks! I’m fine paying for it because I live here and want my community to be nice.

Me too. And I like the speed cameras. It's a tax for idiot drivers. Love it.

Plow the effing streets well. And plow our zone! It was completely unplowed until they let us report it in phase 4. Then too late and we got street of ice with some sand on it.
No interest in funding Arlington's social agenda if they can't even do this,

Yep, give you illegals exploiting services they don't pay for and ruining your public schools.

I'll wait here while you google how much money undocumented immigrants pay in taxes each year. Go on, do your research. Come back and let us know! Also, they will not be eligible for Social security or medicare but they pay into it much of the time. Millions of tax IDs are assigned to the undocumented.

Bezos is stealing from your pocket at a way higher rate than Juan Pablo.

I've Googled it.
Please read the Congress.Gov report on "The Cost of Illegal Immigration" that verifies "the tax payments they make do not come close to the cost they create".

They aren't paying enough for Arlington to break even on them.

It is when there a multiple signs every few feet that are contradictory. It's a messy system and intentionally confusing.

I typically hate speed cameras but Arlington’s are well signed. The bright neon color and placement right before the camera should help drivers to slow down and avoid the fine.
