Why do you have trouble believing it? Because she isn't bald? Because women don't get cancer in their forties? Because she doesn't "look" sick?

DP. She does look sick, or looks like she was sick. She looks aged, which is to be expected.

Just wanted to chime in as I have some personal experience. I think her focus was on survival and her family and she needed her privacy and didn't want to be pitied. Now that she has reached a milestone she is ready to thank the hospital and give back. I strongly suspect she will eventually disclose the cancer and become a strong advocate and donator, but she has not met the 5-year mark-another major milestone. Give her time. Once she feels confident in her recovery and health and has taken time to process it all I think she will make a big difference that can potentially save lives by getting more people to get screened early enough. She has looked great through it all because she has a team to help her. That doesn't mean she wasn't ill.

Thank you to the posters who always patiently explain preventative chemo in these threads.

I feel for her. She is probably very scared. I think she had ovarian cancer. I am about her age and had cancer a few years ago. Not fun. That said, her PR team is shockingly bad. They caused a lot of problems. I would fire them.

Because their expenses are heavily scrutinized, the BRF pays in prestige more than in financial compensation. So they have a very limited pool of potential employees, either very young people at the beginning of their career or not-so-young people who can afford to be paid in prestige. IOW, not the best of the best.

I disagree. I think it was breast cancer.

I think so too. She aged overnight which makes me think sudden menopause. I wish her the best. Doesn't matter how rich and famous one is, having small kids and cancer is terrifying.

It was found after abdominal surgery. She probably went to have a cyst removed and it turned out to be cancer.

I think the RF doesn't have a clear "goal" too. Everytone is branched off with their own ideas in how things should go. No one wants to work under that kind of environment.

I think they lied about the abdominal surgery to cover up breast cancer. Maybe she had a mastectomy and reconstruction.

Ovarian cancer is hard to detect in early stages.

I think she had surgery for Crohn's or IBD (conditions she's long been rumored to have) and they discovered unexpectedly she had colon cancer.

I don’t think there was abdominal surgery to begin with. That was so vague and obviously a lie and easier to get away with a month recovery story. She didn’t want to share her breast cancer diagnosis and reconstruction story - that is her right. I think she had a routine mammogram which starts at 40 and discovered something.
