Ugh I work with someone like this. Always sharing news links of unfortunate stories with “this is so sad .” Makes herself a victim constantly. Makes sure if she knows anything about anyone going through something rough that YOU know that SHE knows because she’s just so connected to bad and sad things. It’s so annoying.

That’s just spiraling and depression. They need to stop themselves from wallowing and ruminating and physically go do stuff, like work out, walk, visit with friends, go out to eat, volunteer, nature hike, etc. |
Depression has become a comfortable state for them so they unconsciously look for things to reinforce and justify that state. It's also an anxiety thing, I believe. |
