Best out west ski resort for long blue groomers

Anonymous
DP here. Do any of these also have a good amount of greens? One parent and teen want to go out west because they love skiing and enjoy blues (and sometimes blacks but maybe not out west.) The other parent and other teen enjoy greens but really don’t enjoy harder skiing and also might want more breaks than the other two.

Thoughts?

Breckenridge and lots of the blues are also by the greens and ski school at peak 9. So very easy to meet up for lunch at base of Peak 9.

We stayed Beaver Run ski in/out at the base and could easily go to the condo for lunch too. You also get ski lockers and just walk outside and lift is right there. Also lots of amenities such as indoor pool, hot tubs, arcade, free shuttle to town, etc.

Big Sky!

Horseshoe (3 mile long blue cruiser) and
Calamity Jane immediately come to mind as blues I particularly enjoy, but there are many, many to choose from.

Depending on your level it’s important to get some advance intel on characteristics of the trail/conditions/grooming because there are definitely some dark blue trails there.

For easier skiing/to warm up, highly recommend Mr K a long, lovely green trail and the trails off the Southern Comfort lift.

Trails difficulty are color coded.

Blue is mid.

OP wants long intermediate trails

And OP wants groomed- which are easier to ski.

Of those I've been to, I agree on DV, BC, and Snowmass. We loved Vail, but there are no greens, and it's a more challenging mountain.

With respect to towns, DV being near Park City is the best.

Prefer park city to Breckenridge for those runs because at Breckenridge you usually have to go down to the bases for them. At PC there are more mid mountain lift options so you can do shorter lines.

Sun Valley, hands down.

For something new try Snowmass. Added bonus of some nights on the town in Aspen

I really disliked Beaver Creek. Agree the grooming is excellent but a lot of traversing to get to different terrain, and I thought the runs were pretty short and greenish or pale blue.

Tons of great long blues and once your kid does those, can advance to easy blacks on peak 10.

We took DS to Breck his 1st time out west and above worked out great.

Not as family friendly and the few blues they have are steeper. Also the snow is not as great when compared to Breckenridge or Keystone. Keystone isn't really a town though, if you are also looking for that. It's kind of like Vail - Disney with skiing.

Again, Breck. It caters to everyone and is so big people are spread out. The lines the past few years are negligible, except some of the beginner green runs. It did have some lines years ago, but that's been resolved with the fast lift at peak 10 and the new freedom chair.

This place is the best hidden secret for families. Ski in/ski out with all the bells and whistles but not the price. You can. Also walk to town in 5 min.
