Is your husband as dorky as mine?

But I can't complain - I play Sims 3 and will be playing Civilizations V when it comes out in two weeks.

Viva la dorks!

Also a Sims fan, though I like Sims 2 better. I'm all about home businesses!

I wish my husband had a little dork-balance in his life. He's all work, all the time. Dorky, in a way that I can't be part of. If only we could sit in the same room, playing WoW against each other on our networked computers!

Cars and model airplanes.

Though he's started to get me into both, so, pot, meet kettle.

married to a baseball-statistics-book reading medieval historian. (Did you know that there's a new 3" thick book of baseball statistics that comes out each year???)

if it makes the OP feel better, that's probably a lot of people's spouses this last couple weeks. And at least half of the non-married guys I know, plus a few women.

He's not my husband, but my daughter's dad bought himself a birthday present last year. It's a sitar. Yes, the indian stringed instrument. No, he's not indian. He's caucasian. He likes stringed instruments. I found myself wondering if a banjo or ukelele was next.

Yes, we get it at our house.

My husband is 42 and plays fantasy football. Actually, I don't mind at all. At least, it shows that he has some understanding of sports. If this is your husband's worst trait, consider yourself lucky.

Hhhm. My DH plays soccer...ice hockey...and football (indoor/arena). Of the non-fantasy variety. He's 40. Reliving his glory days of playing Div I college sports. Except guess what? He's 40, which means he spends half the time with ice packs on his knees, moaning. Wish he'd play the fantasy kind.

OK...how's this for dorkiness.

My DH has more Star Wars toys than any child that I've ever known! He's been collecting them forever, both classic and new ones.

I think that I might be just a little dorkier, however, because I gave him my old Star Wars toys

To 10:29, my DH just bought a banjo! Just one of the many dorky things he does. I had to put my foot down on the roll playing. He used to spend entire Saturdays in someone's basement playing D&D. He's now 30 and keeps it to the online computer games, but I can hear him commanding attacks over his headset. LOL

BTW, dorks make the best partners. They're very loyal and caring. They know how lucky they are to have us! Wouldn't trade him for the world.

That's not dorky, that's awesome. Good for him!

My husband likes to watch American Pickers. Ugh - I just keep imagining how dirty they get doing that lol.

I WISH my husband had a hobby like some of these. He just works. All the time. And occasionally reads The Economist.

Yes -- We get that baseball statistics book at our house too. DH follows minor league, college, and sometimes even high school sports. He also follows international sports teams. He loves sports history and acts shocked everytime I haven't heard of xx player from 19xx.

DH is also a video game addict. He sometimes carries a DS into the bathroom with him. He posts on video game message boards. Prior to that he was a sports card/memorabilia addict but he gave that up because it was getting too pricey.

DH reads The Economist, Atlantic Monthly, CQ, and a few others. He loves CSPAN too.

He finds it amazing that anyone would read a novel when there are so many great non-fiction books.

He tells me (and I guess it's true) that at least he doesn't drink, smoke, gamble or go out looking for other women. It's the least painful of all of the "vices" he could have. But I love teasing him and calling him a dork!

This is my husband too --he's in his early 30s, plays Madden (NFL football) on XBox live with not only friends but also what i suspect are 14 and 15 year old boys. He also does the fantasy draft thing, and studies up on it as well, as the OP's husband was doing. It's super dorky, and infuriating at times, but he also tells me that if those are the worst of his vices (along with being a sports fanatic generally), and he doesn't drink, smoke, or go out looking for women, then i'm lucky. He's right, of course, but why must the bar be set so low? Guess we must allow our "boys" to enjoy their hobbies, and if it's infuriating, get more of our own.
