What are the latest dental upsells?

DCUM *crowd* away

I don't know why my brain does that when I'm typing.

The deep cleaning/scaling when they use general anesthesia, its super painful and takes multiple visits.

I've never had a cavity and have never needed this. Maybe some people do?

Hygienist spouse of a coworker is angry about being told to upsell deep cleanings to everyone. Wants to switch practices, but I suspect she’ll end up unemployed. Quit another dentist over recreational coke use. She seems naive.

I already have dental phobia, so things like upselling make my anxiety go up.

Mouth guard. They tried to sell me another one even though I bought one 2 years ago.

Deep clean.

Some special redo of an old cavity that they said needs something sort of like a crown

Replacement of some bonds on my teeth with veneers

Op I was told I needed a deep clean!

What’s a bite wing?

I had a dentist schedule my child for fillings. When we arrived weeks later I learned they were now out of network. I was charged a lot more.

My dentist (out of network) had me do an at home test on my finger for sleep apnea, said I had a number of drops, and then wanted me to allow a company to contact me. I asked for the name of the company, googled it, and came up with a page advertising itself to dentists as a way to grow their practice.

I could have sleep apnea - but I think I should investigate it through my medical doctor and insurance, right?

They do a lot of cosmetic dental work in their office and implants, so I think that's where they make their money. So maybe that's why they don't upsell on the regular dental appts. It's been great. No cavities, no fluoride pushes, no xray pushes.

Can you share which mouth guard your dentist recommended from Amazon?

I love my dentist, she has never tried to upsell anything.

My dentist doesn't do this. Sole practitioner, inherited from his father.
