| Just went to the dentist for the first time in a year and felt like I was talking to a car salesmen |

You tell us then

| Mouth guards |
| Adult fluoride treatments, dental guards for teeth grinding, MI (or something) paste, x-rays every 6 months (not needed) AND panoramic x-rays which actually show them nothing but jaw tumors (not common at all), no decay or cavities. |
| Invisalign |

#1 is teeth whitening. They will be quick to mention that the standards have changed for how you look.
#2 is a mouth guard. TBH I have a mouth guard now as I really have been having some issues with clenching. #3 is Invisalign or equivalent to fix a problem you never knew you had. #4 is fluoride varnish. My insurance doesn't cover it and I feel like enough fluoride touches my teeth daily already. |

Invisalign.
"The scan is free!" That's nice, but I'm still not getting Invisalign. |
| My dentist doesn't try to upsell me anything. I legitimately needed a mouth guard and she showed me one I could get on Amazon that would work perfectly fine. They do a lot of cosmetic dental work in their office and implants, so I think that's where they make their money. So maybe that's why they don't upsell on the regular dental appts. It's been great. No cavities, no fluoride pushes, no xray pushes. |
| Just got a night guard, but my jaw clicks and I do clench/grindmy teeth |
| Never get invisalign from a dentist. Only an orthodontist. |
| This is a thing OP. What did they try and get you on? The mouth guard or the fluoride that insurance doesn't cover either? The cleanings you "need" every 3 months? The bite-wings at every.single.visit which are unnecessary? |
Who please? |
|
Yeah, I recently got the hard sell on some "system" for my gums? When she started off with "I don't recommend this for all of my patients, but you truly need it ... " I knew more sales tactics would follow, and they did. It was like $1200.
Ummm, no. |
| My dentist doesn't upsell me on anything. She's also not in a big fancy practice, so it probably scares most of the DCUM practice away. |
