One of the important factors that people are overlooking is that this is Venezuelan on Venezuelan crime, and that they are targeting and extorting undocumented immigrants because they know they are hesitant to speak with authorities for fear of their own deportation. This is one of the reasons why we need comprehensive immigration reform - our system of allowing millions of people to remain undocumented perpetuates crime in those communities, including violence and human trafficking.
