I've noticed a huge, huge number of the transplants to my neighborhood are from cities where these problems are way worse--LA, Seattle, Portland, NYC, SF. They put up with this because it's still way better than those cities. |
Renters in CP are paying a lot more in income tax than the homeowners in CP, at least according to the Stover study commissioned by Mary Cheh. |
| I wouldn't be surprised if the population goes to a million. People love DC. |
Will never happen. Trump will probably deport the TPS recipients in DC first just to spite the area because it is so blue. |
As he should. TPS has become backdoor amnesty. El Salvador was just extended because they had heavy rain and storms in 2023 and 2024. It's now one of the safest countries but Salvadorians get to stay because it's raining. Unbelievable. Trump is able to reverse it after he gets into office. |
I’m not sure about how that works legally. Can TPS be revoked before the expiration date after it is issued? |
No. It's a congressional decision for how long TPS is extended. El Salvadorans have many, many friends in Congress. There are benefits to being the nannies, gardeners, and otherwise serving the families of Congress members. |
Yes it can be terminated early. "Federal regulations would allow the extensions to be terminated early, although that’s never been done before." https://apnews.com/article/el-salvador-tps-biden-immigration-temporary-protected-status-f423f4f3cdbac535af35337ebda314f0 |
