Why is ECNL continuing to force parents to pay and kids to attend these showcases in the midwest in December. Did anyone get recruited out of there? I hope so, I hope another family had a better weekend than we did. ECNL sucks

0/10 would not recommend

Does the ECNL force clubs to attend? Isn't it up to the clubs to decide which events to go to? Feel like it's more of a pissing contest when clubs see or know other clubs will be in attendance, they must also be in attendance.

You attend a certain number and can ask for more. It is really up to the club as to how they want to position their kids for recruiting. Many like the December slot because the college season has just wrapped up. For our DD -- target schools watch her in Nashville and then again quickly in January in Florida and visits and offers followed. Worked well.

Both the scouts enjoyed it!

It only takes one.

A few more than one https://public.totalglobalsports.com/public/event/3420/college-list

Yikes -- that is less than half for St. Louis which a lot of coaches skipped because of the weather.

I have a feeling your spouse and kids are embarrassed by you. Your parents likely are too.

Because it was merely a dig at GA and to try and make themselves feel better because they have a kid on an ECNL team. That is why this individual is probably an embarrassment to their family. Most kids don't think this way. It is usually parents with some sort of complex.

I think the PP was saying that the number of colleges looked lite. I don't think it was all of what you said.

Nobody forced this. Your director chose it. Clubs pick which events they go to.

Don't go then. I went to Lakewood last year and had an even worse experience. We ended up playing maybe 1 1/2 games.

Florida? The third days was bad and some games cancelled. But we have 160 coaches at the first game and 130 at the second game. Weather was a little wet but fine. Take that in a heartbeat.

It is the perfect time to do this for college recruiting just maybe not the right place.

The facts are simply that, facts.

Dumbest place to play a winter showcase ever. Absolute dump of a city with nothing to do. I talked with DD's future coach and he was amazed they'd have it in St Louis after the Nashville disasters they had. Enjoy your two more years of that crap hole.

Then the club looks at you like you're too frugal. It makes way to much sense to avoid big travel until the recruiting years but clubs also want to see which families have the deep pockets for travel so the club gets exposure nationally, win or lose.

The money needed to do all this is insane. In my state, it'd be a whole lot cheaper just to keep playing the same local teams they have for the past 4-5 years as my kid's squad started 11v11. Instead, these teams are off to ECNL, GA, Elite64, National League, ECRL to travel to parts unknown. Granted, after playing the same squads every year, it was a bit refreshing at first. But driving 6-8 hours one way to play teams roughly the same after awhile isn't so exciting after awhile and terribly expensive.
