Why do all the florida mom facebook groups seem obsessed with avoiding vaccines

Are.you.really.this.uneducated? Or do you just like spreading misinformation? Probably both. Every public school requires vaccinations. So all the illegal immigrant children (lol, I’m sure there’s none in your hick town) have been vaccinated. I weep at how stupid Americans have become.

Not only that but kids born outside the US are likely to be vaccinated. Mexico, for example, has an excellent rate of childhood vaccination.

Ultimately, the only ones who will suffer will be these moms’ kids if they get mumps or measles (or even worse, polio or tetanus.) That’s unfortunate for the kids in question but nothing you can do. If your kids are up to date on their vaccinations, they should be fine.

Realistically though, people kill or harm their children by being dumb allllll the time. That’s part of life in a free society, unfortunately.

Not really? If you harm a kid in a reckless car crash you can expect to be prosecuted, likewise if you let them go without seatbelts or left them in a hot car or left them alone too young ... kids are harmed, for sure, but we don't *allow it* the way we're apparently allowing parents to skip vaccinations and feed them raw milk and the like.

I do think Covid and the vaccine became a leading cause of this. People became distrustful of the CDC and government and Covid. And with the increasing numbers of people who spoke out loudly against the Covid vaccine and CDC, more and more people started to listen and believe them. And a lot of them probably fell into the rabbit hole of the anti vaccine movement.

What the hell are you talking about. I worked in a school with a high immigration population and those children absolutely had to have proof of vaccinations. Don’t worry PP, “those children” will not infect your precious child with their cooties.

I'm PP and know a full on anti vaxxer and a partial anti vaxxer IRL (both became it after Covid). Their thought process is really out of this world.

The problem is they're almost certainly vaccinated themselves. It's the kids who will suffer.

My Dad's a pediatrician and it's a constant fight.

Florida is attracting a certain type of person from other states who want to live free of taxes and science. It's incredibly sad, because the parents are idiots and the innocent kids will pay the price. But now that we have RFK Jr running policy, make sure your kids get their childhood vaccines before he makes it difficult.

No, you just weren't aware of the growing antivax sentiment. It predates covid by 5+ years. We were having measles outbreaks everywhere in 2013-2014. It coincided with a rise in home births, interest in raw milk, unschooling, etc. Fringe groups on both right and left are hung up on what is "natural" - or rather, their idealized fake idea of what pre-industrial society was like.
