Our school (Big3) provides nothing of the sort like that college counseling. It was like pulling teeth to get them to even say whether there was a lot of competition for my kid's ED or none at all. I certainly didn't ask for any names or even the number of kids. Just a general sense for how competitive things would be for my kid or if we should pick another school since he/she was option to other options. I was treated like I was nosing in other peoples' business.

Happens every year to multiple schools. We have 6-7 ED Northwestern, 4-6 ED Duke, 9-10 ED Vanderbilt. Not hard to believe from a private school where over half the class EDs somewhere. The counselors will tell you how many candidates are in each bucket (no names) and where you fall within that bucket, so you can plan accordingly. For example, my son applied ED to a school with 6-7 other kids planning to ED. He was told he was at the top of that bucket and would compare favorably, so went for it. He knew of stronger kids and legacy kids doing ED to another school, and he took that into consideration when making his ED analysis. This is a class of 150 kids and a very strong college counseling staff that is incredibly hands-on in the process.

How many got into those 3 schools from your HS last year?
And how many matriculated?

Not sure why you would ED to Vanderbilt over Emory? Maybe if you had lower stats. The kids at our high school always choose Emory.

So there is a theory on Reddit ("portal astrology") that new links are showing up in portals for some people. Something about a new line regarding ""explore our virtual and on-campus visit options". At least over there it seems that some people have it and some people don't...

Take from that what you will.

Still no email though, so that means we're looking at Monday earliest?!?

Hahahaha 19 kids from our graduating class of 200 applied early to Brown.

Do you know What was the appeal for that many different kids?

My kid is eagerly awaiting for tomorrow decision but I thought they were somewhat unique to fall head over heels for Brown (it wasn’t my favorite but it is a great fit for them so we supported the ED application )

Our kid’s counselor wouldn’t give that info either; but I understand. Even if 10 other kids apply, that doesnt indicate level of conpetition… especially if some kids are more of a stand out.

Last year ED numbers were different. I know 4 got into NU and 3 went. 3 got into Duke and all 3 went. I know of 2 who went to Vandy but no idea how many ED’d or got in
